ROOM MOODBOARD CANVA TEMPLATE
1. Neutral Apartment Aesthetic
Starting it off simple and neutral, a neutral apartment aesthetic!
When decorating a neutral apartment, you’ll want to stick to a neutral color scheme. For example, a color scheme of white, cream, beige, natural wood, and even add some gold/silver touches to the space.
What I like about neutral apartments is that they are always relaxing and make the space feel very calm.
2. Cozy Apartment Aesthetic
Moving on to a cozy apartment aesthetic. I feel like you can make any apartment cozy (if you want to), but having a cozy apartment aesthetic is something different.
I have a cozy living room ideas blog post that I highly recommend checking out for more inspo, but in addition to that, a cozy aesthetic includes different textures, decorating with warm tones and calm colors.
For a living room or bedroom, I’d definitely include soft throw blankets and cozy throw pillows, as well as adding a soft area rug with neutral tones.
3. Boho Apartment Aesthetic
Moving on to one of my favorite apartment aesthetics – boho!
The boho aesthetic became SUPER POPULAR these past few years, and I’m definitely seeing more and more homes, interior designers, and stores that are using this beautiful aesthetic.
Basically, a boho aesthetic includes warm tones, natural materials, plants, and colorful decorations.
You can play with it however you want, from going for a “neutral boho aesthetic”, or even a dark gray-neutral theme, and even a colorful boho aesthetic.
4. Girly Apartment Aesthetic
A girly aesthetic sounds exactly like you think of it – a girly and feminine space!
This aesthetic doesn’t necesserarly means a pink home, but usually includes pastel colors like pink, lavender, or light blue. You can even go for a brighter color scheme.
Also, it doesn’t have to be a colorful color scheme, you can also go for neutral tones and colors with a pop of pink/red/pastel colors with your decor.
As for furniture, feminine textures like velvet and satin definitely adds a touch of a feminine glamour to the space.
5. Minimalist Apartment Aesthetic
The minimalist apartment aesthetic definitely became extremely popular and trendy these past few years, and this living room space is a beautiful design I am loving!
A minimalist aesthetic usually includes neutral colors, white, cream, and really includes a “clean” and calm vibe.
But the main thing about a minimalist apartment, is going less crazy on the wall decor and colors, less displaying, and more “hiding your stuff” behind drawers and baskets, and going for a more clean look.
6. Mid-Century Apartment Aesthetic
The mid-century aesthetic is based on the 40s-60s of the 20th century. It includes clean lines, natural materials, pops of color, and mixing different tones.
I love this aesthetic because it’s a beautiful combination of neutral and color, and I love the modern furniture and natural materials like different types of wood, incorporating plants into the space. I feel like it’s the perfect combination of a modern and cozy aesthetic.
7. Japandi Apartment Aesthetic
After visiting Japan last year, I discovered the beautiful Japandi aesthetic, that definitely became one of my favorites.
It’s a design aesthetic that combines the minimalism of the Japanese design, with the warm and functionality of the Scandinavian design (which we will talk about later).
It’s an extremely beautiful aesthetic that includes the most unique pieces! Usually, with this aesthetic you’ll focus on natural elements, go for a minimalist look, include clean and neutral colors like whites, beiges, greys, with black accents.
With that being said, although it is a minimalist aesthetic, it still has a cozy touch to it, by that you can include cozy throw blankets, soft pillows, and include warm lighting in the space.
8. Coastal Apartment Aesthetic
I lived most of my life (with my parents) near the beach, and the beach and ocean is a huge part of my life. And for the future, I’ll definitely go back and live by the beach!
Anyways, I LOVE the coastal apartment aesthetic. It’s an aesthetic that brings in those beautiful ocean vibes, and includes light-colored walls (whites, light blues, sandy tones), as well as using light and airy furniture, and focusing on natural lights from big windows.
As for the decor, you’ll usually want to include natural materials, and go for an ocean-inspired color palette.
Because we are inspired by the beach, don’t forget to include beachy textures like woven baskets, seashells decorations, pepple vases, rope accents, and any natural inspired pieces that can “bring the beach” to your place.
9. NYC Apartment Aesthetic
I’m obsessed with everything NYC, and especially with the NYC apartments aesthetic. Even in my childhood home I have brick wall, and I love it!
Anyways, for the NYC apartment aesthetic you’ll want to some how include a brick wall. There are many brick wall wall papers/3D brick wall boards (that’s what I used in my childhood bedroom) that you can use to recreate an accent wall like the one above.
As for the decor itself, aim for neutral toned furniture, mix between different wood tones, add pops of black colors, and go for the “city theme” apartment look.
10. Parisian Apartment Aesthetic
We talked about NY, it’s time to talk about Paris!
Ugh! I love Paris so much. Honestly, Paris and NYC are my top favorite cities in the world! (or maybe I’ll add Kyoto as well, I had an amazing time there!)
Anyways, I love the Parisian apartment aesthetic. It is different than the regular French aesthetic, I feel like it’s more modern.
A Parisian aesthetic is a sophisticated yet comfortable aesthetic. It includes classic details like high ceilings, framing walls, hardwood floors, and different patterns.
As for the color palette, you’ll want to go for white walls (which are a Parisian staple), to create a bright and airy feel to the space, while including pops of color in the decor.
11. Modern Apartment Aesthetic
A modern apartment aesthetic is all about clean lines, functionality, and creating a sleek and uncluttered space.
For that, we are going to focus on minimalism, go for a neutral color palette – whites, greys, and blacks are the perfect modern color scheme.
We are also going to focus on including natural materials like wood, stone, and glass.
12. Scandinavian Apartment Aesthetic
A Scandinavian aesthetic, or how people usually call it – “Scandi Style”, is a combination of simplicity, minimalist, and creating a cozy and light atmosphere.
When designing a Scandi style place, you’ll want to focus on light and airy colors, so your color palette should include whites, off-whites, light greys, and if you want to add some color, also pale blues or greens.
For the decor, you’ll want to focus on natural materials and textures like light woods, wooden furniture, and add cozy textiles to the space like upholstery furniture, cozy throw blankets and pillows, soft rugs, and create a more cozy and inviting feeling.
13. Rustic Apartment Aesthetic
Moving on the rustic apartment aesthetic – it’s basically the perfect combination of a country cabin and an urban space.
It includes a modern and natural aesthetic, meaning using natural materials like wood, stone, and different textiles like cotton, burlap, linen, and decorating with woven rungs and cotton curtains.
As for your color palette, we are talking about a neutral color palette, mixing browns, beiges, creams, and taupes.
14. Retro Apartment Aesthetic
One of my favorite aesthetics in general is the retro aesthetic! This design is all about funky and groovy vibes!
It is such a fun aesthetic that includes playful decorations, funky colors, patterns, and more.
As for the colors, usually you’ll want to include colorful colors like mustard yellow, orange, greens, pinks, turquoise, and more.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match these different colors! Also, you can’t do retro without patterns – go for swirls, paisleys, florals, geometric shapes, and even include animal prints.
15. 70s Apartment Aesthetic
This beautiful living room actually combines between a 70s groovy retro aesthetic and a tropical boho aesthetic.
But we’ll talk about the 70s groovy retro aesthetic – so, this aesthetic is definitely a funky one!
It includes different patterns mixed together, a retro color palette that includes oranges, turquoises, and whites.
As for patterns, you can mix different types of patterns like florals, groovy, swirls, and more! You can’t not include wall paper in your design, since the wall papers trends was super popular during the 60s-70s!
16. Cottagecore Apartment Aesthetic
Next on our list is a cottagecore aesthetic. It’s basically all about the charm and coziness of a country cottage, brought into your modern space.
I can even call this a more “romantic” aesthetic, that includes the “simple things in life”.
When designing a cottagecore space, you’ll want to embrace natural materials and soft textures like wood furniture, vintage/antique furniture, add fabrics and cozy textures by layring throw pillows, decorating with knit blankets.
As for the decor, you can’t not decorate with plants in a cottagecore space, hang planters, decorate with indoor plants in ceramic pots, and more!
It’s a combination of cottage living and vintage aesthetic. You can go to thrift shops and thrift unique decor pieces.
17. Vintage Apartment Aesthetic
And last but not least, is a vintage apartment aesthetic!
A vintage aesthetic isn’t just about having old furniture, it’s about creating a cohesive atmosphere that reflects a specific era’s trends.
When designing a vintage space, you’ll want to go to antique shops, thrift stores, and online marketplaces to hunt different furniture pieces from your vintage era choice.
You’ll want to look for vintage lamps, clocks, artwork, and decorate with different elements that reflect the time you are going for. Also, the prettiest thing to do (in my opinion), when designing a vintage space, is mixing old with new.
For example, you can incorporate both modern elements with the vintage furniture pieces, and create a unique space that feels like a home, and not like a museum.
And that’s it for today! I hope you found some beautiful apartment inspo ideas 🙂
