COZY LIVING ROOM ESSENTIALS:
So after understanding what a cozy living room for you is, and after seeing my inspiration, it’s time to move on to the actual steps and essentials on how to make your living room feel cozy and inviting!
1. Use Warm Lighting
Let’s be real, lighting plays a big role in setting the mood of any room or space. What I recommend doing, is using warm-toned light bulbs to create a relaxing, cozy ambiance.
I also like decorating the space with table lamps, floor lamps, and even fairy lights with warm light bulbs, to make the space cozy and fun.
2. Add Soft Textures
Our next step, and the most important in my opinion, is adding soft textures!
I am mainly talking about the couch area, but it’s honestly the most important thing. Having a cozy, comfy couch is a must!
But beyond the couch itself, if you want to make your living room cozy, you should add soft throw pillows, have some soft throw blankets to cuddle in.
You can also add a fun, soft area rug to your living room to make things even softer 😉
3. Decorate With Warm Tones
In my opinion, warm tones can really make a difference, and make a space feel much more cozy and welcoming.
Colors like white, cream, beige, brown, warm grays, and even light pinks can really create a cozy feeling in a room.
But with that being said, I recommend adding some accent colors, such as burgundy, pink, or rust, to add some depth and interest to the space.
4. Include Natural Elements to The Space
Next on our list, is including natural elements in your space, such as wooden decor accents, and plants (whether it’s real or artificial plants).
Plants in particular can bring so much warmth and life to a room.
5. Use Candles
I don’t know about you, but I’m OBSESSED with candles. I always light at least one candle in my living room, and also in my home office when I work.
I love how relaxed it makes me feel, I love the smell of those delicious smelling candles I buy, and it just makes a fun cozy feeling in the room I’m at.
I specifically love the fall scents, such as the pumpkin spice scents candles, leaves scents, and the Christmas candles as well.
In fact, I usually stock up on candles for the whole year every fall and winter, and I’m obsessed!
I love the Bath & Body Works candles, but I am also obsessed with Target’s Opal House candle collections!
6. Display Personal Items
I think that what makes a space actually cozy, intimate, and that feels YOURS, is displaying personal items such as family photos, artwork, or unique objects that reflects yourself and your interests.
For example, I’m a complete 10000% travel addict, I love traveling, it’s literally a part of my soul.
When I travel, I always buy souvenirs and unique finds that I can use to decorate my place, and “bring my travels” to my living area.
This is something that makes my home more intimate, cozy, and “mine”, because I am including personal elements from myself, that helps decorate the space and also bring me into the decor itself.
7. Incorporate Natural Light
Natural light can make a room feel so much brighter, airier, and definitely more inviting.
What I recommend doing, is adding sheer curtains or blinds. This way, you can allow natural light to flow into the room, as well as keeping your privacy and making the room cozy.
You can also decorate your living room with mirrors, to reflect the natural light, and also create the illusion of a larger space.
And that’s it for today!
