How to make a gallery wall look good?
There are 3 things you need to keep in mind when creating a gallery wall:
1. Picture frames – start off by choosing the aesthetic of your wall art, and choose your picture frames design accordingly.
If you are looking for a more modern vibe, you can get same-sized black modern picture frames, or if you want a unique touch you can aim for gold picture frames.
OR, if you are going for a more unique, maximalist look, you can mix and match different styles and colors of picture frames.
2. Gallery wall rule – make sure your picture frames are not too close and not too far from each other. The best thing to do is to aim for 3-6 inches between each picture frame or wall art, and around all sides of the wall art pieces.
3. Gallery wall setup – last thing to keep in mind when creating a gallery wall, is your gallery wall setup and how you want to hang up all the picture frames on your wall. What is the set up of your gallery wall, will you be combining different sized picture frames? or you are going for a clean same-size picture frames wall?
How To Make a Gallery Wall:
1. Choose your gallery wall style & theme
The first step to creating a gallery wall is to plan your gallery wall aesthetic, what type of wall art are you looking for.
For example, it could be a beach themed gallery wall with different wall art and beach images, it could be a gold/elegant gallery wall with more elegant wall art aesthetic, or it could even be preppy and colorful with different shapes/designs/colored picture frames with funky wall art or personal pictures.
Once you’ve chosen your perfect aesthetic, it’ll be easier to piece together frames and photos for your gallery wall!
2. Get artwork and images
Now comes the fun part – collecting wall prints and images!
You can either print your own photos and fun memories you want to display on your gallery wall, or you can shop online (or check out thrift stores) for beautiful art prints that matches your aesthetic (or combine both).
3. Plan the Gallery Wall layout
Next step to creating the perfect gallery wall is to plan your layout!
All you need to do, is to first of all, decide on the wall you want to create the gallery wall on, and try playing with different frame sizes and layouts to achieve the exact look you want.
Decide whether you are looking for a more symmetrical or a more unique layout with different shaped picture frames.
4. Get Your Picture Frames!
Another fun part is buying picture frames that match the sizes of your wall prints and pictures!
