Packing for college can be very overwhelming, especially as a freshman starting a new chapter in college.

WHAT TO BRING TO A COLLEGE DORM:

1. A Planner

If you read the rest of my college/dorm essentials and college tips blog posts, you’ll know how I swear by planners!

I personally love being organized, and I love having my life planned out and written down so I can see.

2. Multi-Surface Cleaning Spray

Having a multi-surface cleaning spray is such a lifesaver in college! You can use it to clean anything and everything in your dorm.

This multi-surface cleaning spray comes in a set of three, and is highly recommended!

3. Mini Vacuum

Another must-have cleaning essential in my opinion is a mini vacuum!

I think it’s pretty self-explanatory why it’s a great idea to have a vacuum in your dorm, but what’s better is to have a mini vacuum that is helpful and doesn’t take space at all!

4. Laundry Hamper & Bags

Another pretty self-explanatory college essential, but I wanted to recommend this specific laundry hamper & bags set!

This set comes with the hamper which is great for placing in your closet/under the bed.

But what I really like is the two laundry bags that you can use to separate your light-colored laundry and dark-colored laundry.

5. Towel Wrap

This towel wrap is an all-time favorite of mine! I use it ALL THE TIME, it’s so comfortable!

The reason why I love towel wraps is that you don’t need to hold your towel, and your hands are free to carry anything/do anything!

6. Shower Flip Flops

In my opinion, shower flip-flops are one of the most important college essentials to bring to college!

Let’s be honest, college showers aren’t that cleanest, and you don’t want to step in the shower with your bare feet.

That’s why you can’t forget shower flip-flops!

7. Shower Caddy

A shower caddy is also a very important dorm room bathroom essential you can’t forget! This is definitely a must-have to bring to a college dorm.

Basically, it’s pretty self-explanatory, but you use this shower caddy to store all of your shower essentials.

Then, once you go to take a shower, you simply carry your shower caddy with all of your shower essentials into the shower with you.

8. Space Saving Hangers

Moving on to dorm room closet essentials, these space-saving hangers are such a lifesaver!

These are great for hanging a few pieces of clothing without taking up so much space in your closet! These hangers are great for making the most out of your closet space.

9. Non-slip Velvet Hangers

Next for the closet is the non-slip velvet hangers! The reason why you should get them is that they are velvet hangers, which means your clothes will never slip off them!

A few months ago I switched out my hangers in my closet from regular plastic ones to these non-slip velvet hangers, and I can tell you – this is a game-changer!

10. AirPods

Next on our “What to Bring to a College Dorm” list are AirPods!

Who doesn’t need earbuds? And having wireless headphones that are also high quality such as AirPods is definitely a bonus!

You can use them to work out, listen to music, talk on the phone/any other purpose you would use earbuds for!

11. Laptop

These days having a laptop in college is definitely a must! Use it for homework,projects, work online, and use it for any other purpose!

12. 10FT Long Charging Cable

You’ll never know (before moving into your new dorm) where is the closest outlet to your bed, so make sure to get a long 10FT charging cable to use your phone in bed no matter where the nearest outlet is!

13. Hand Sanitizer

Well, after 2020, and also 2021, having a hand sanitizer is pretty important!

This set comes with 4 great hand sanitizers that will keep you clean during the school year! 😉

14. Mini Fridge

A mini-fridge is definitely a dorm room must-have! They aren’t expensive, and you can create a little kitchen area in your dorm to store food and eat in the own comfort of your dorm!
